Girls Camp!!!

Girls Camp!!!

Yesterday I returned from spending a week in Maryville, Missouri at girls-camp (woot-woot)!!! It was every bit as wonderful as I remember it!  There is nothing like girls camp.  It’s a week of one hilarious thing after another.  You spend the whole week laughing hysterically, dancing, singing, and just bouncing around everywhere.  It’s amazing.  I was so much like my big sister this week.  She was a leader at girls camp when my little sister and I were YW, and I found myself acting almost exactly like she always did. Adopting more and more of her characteristics like this. It’s a phenomenon that has taken me by surprise this past year.  But that is a whole other discussion entirely.
I always say that some people love babies, and some love children.  Me? I adore teenage girls!  I have more fun with them than I do with children or adults.  I bonded with those girls this week, and now it’s going to be all but impossible to leave them.  See, a little over a week ago we received surprise orders to Ft. Bliss which is in El Paso, Tx (but not the heart of Texas.  It’s 12 hours away from Dallas!  Leavenworth is only 8 hours away).  It seems like such a horrible thing.  We love it here!  We have only been here for 10 months, and had anticipated staying at least 3 years, if not 5, 10, or 20 years! My hope was that we would retire here in Lansing, Kansas.  We bought a big, beautiful house and everything.  But when Pete made the E-8 promotion list he worried that we would have to PCS sooner than later.  But THIS soon?  It’s so startling, it’s hard to accept.  But at the same time, I feel a strange peace.  I keep praying that we will go where the Lord wants us to go (or better yet, stay where He wants us to stay).  I’m heartbroken, but at the same time peaceful.  There is a small chance that we could stay if Pete gets to slide into an E-8 position at BCTP, but it’s more likely that in less than 2 months we will be packing all our things and moving to the desert.

I'm so glad there are ladies like you that are great around teenage girls. I know I'm not...I just hope I do okay with my own two girls! Good luck with everything. If you do end up in El Paso: I'm pretty sure that is where the Wardleighs are going.
